Protection of visitors

As matters stand, France, Poland and Romania have yet to conclude bilateral agreements with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) which would ensure that a UK visitor to those countries have recourse to the local guarantee fund for compensation if injured by an uninsured or untraced motorist.

For Government to continue to apply pressure at the highest levels to address this problem and ensure the protection of UK visitors in those countries.

To work with our members to ensure that, in the absence of a bilateral agreement, UK visitors to these countries are aware of the need to have adequate personal accident cover and if appropriate motor legal expenses insurance as a partial alternative.
