Automated vehicles could provide many potential benefits including improved mobility for people with disabilities, reduced congestion, reduced car parking, improved safety and reclaimed time. However, there are a number of major insurance considerations that require careful thought and planning. It needs to be clear who or what bears responsibility for incidents and there will be a need for mandatory data release by the vehicle manufacturers.


To work with the Law Commission to ensure that Highly Automated Road Passenger Services (HARPS) vehicles are both safe-by-design as well as safe-by-operation and that insurance brokers are able to deliver suitable insurance solutions and choice for customers.
